JEEP & ENVenture energy saving shop

Beginning in 2007, when JEEP’s staff received a solar training by experts of the Nordic folkecenter and Mali folkecenter, JEEP’s solar projects in Uganda have been highly successful. One of the first villages to be included in one of those projects was Wabutungulu in Luwero District. A solar run phone charging shop for the local community opened its gates in 2008 and will now be turned into an energy saving shop using an elaborated business concept.

Our first shop for energy saving products is open!

Monday 04/March/2013 opened our new shop for energy saving products in Wabutungulu, district Luwero. We started this project together with our partner Aneri Patel from ENVenture in Washington. Now the people in this district have a access to energy saving products and can buy, water filter, solarlamps, energy saving stoves and more. We trained the village people there and the first people bought products. There are very happy with them, espacially with the new water filter.

Lighting Africa Project has been extended to Kasese District

On 18th -19th /02/2013 JEEP extended lighting Africa Project to Kasese district, At the moment three sub counties have benefited already and theses include; Kyondo, Hamukungu and Maliba sub counties. JEEP introduced new solar product called “Little Sun” Serious awareness seminars were conducted on little sun solar lamp(how little sun is used and maintained) , about lighting Africa project, solar energy in general, dangers of kerosene lamps. JEEP sold 300 little sun lamps at a subsidised price.

ENVENTURE BOOST JEEP ENERGY SHOP IN WABUTUNGULU- LUWEERO DISTRICT

ENVenture project boosts the shop for energy saving products in Luweero district. The phone charging shop has expanded with selling energy saving products. On Thursday 14th /02/2012 JEEP visited the village and distributed a lot of flyers to the village people in Wabutungulu. They were so interested about it and happy that they can now buy solar lamps and more products in their own village. JEEP is so happy to have this good project together with ENVenture.

JEEP 30 year’s celebration of Environmental Conservation

On Friday 1st of February 2013 JEEP marked 30 years of existence since 1983. The celebrations started on Thursday 31st January with a procession along the streets of Kampala. Friday 1st of February 2013 was the climax of these celebrations and a number of dignitaries graced the occasion and among these include Counsellor for development Sanne Frost Helt who represented His Excellency the Royal Danish Ambassador to Uganda, Different foreign consulates representatives, Retired Archbishop Livingstone Mpalanyi Nkoyooyo,

Solar Energy installations in Kasese

SOLAR ENERGY IN SCHOOLS In a bid to increase access to clean energy by all in Kasese district, Joint Energy and Environment Projects (JEEP) funded by the Nordic Folkecenter for Renewable energy installed solar system in5 selected schools in Kasese district. The schools include Maliba SS, Hamukungu Parents SS, Kitswamba SDA SS, Kibanzanga High school and Magherita SS Sustainability and security of the system were key issues considered in the selection process
