Progress

The project is implemented as a cooperation between Seniors without Borders (SwB), Nordic Folkcentre for Renewable Energy and in Uganda Joint Environment and Energy Project (JEEP) and Safe Neighbourhood Foundation (SNF). SwB is project leader and responsible to CISU.

The project is focusing on five environmental challenges in the Eastern Uganda, Mt. Elgon, Budaka and Moroto. Water Management or rather Mismanagement, Energy Crisis, Deforestation, Waste and Pressure on land/ Food Safety.

Consultative planning meeting on EAP

On 1st and 2nd April JEEP had a planning meeting on Environmental Awareness project (EAP). The meeting was to enable project partners ie JEEP, Safe Neighbourhood Foundation (SNF), Seniors Without Borders (SWB) and Youth Leading Environmental Change (YLEC) to work together, effectively share ideas by providing knowledge of project activities and make activity plan. It was conducted by Enterprise development limited (EDL) consultants Mrs Irene Mutumba. It was also to streamline every partner’s roles in the project

Youth Leading  Envirnomental Change(YLEC)  breifly meeting on EAP prpject

On 19th March the partners of JEEP Youth Leading Environmental Change (YLEC) had aberify meeting on EAP project at JEEPFolkecenter. JEEP had to inform YLEC members about their roles in EAP project and the YLEC members to give their expectation.

On 20th March Members of the Lutheran World Federation from Pader District visited JEEPFolkecenter to learn different types of Renewable energy technolgies. 25 members were trained how to make shield stove and after the training participants also had to divided into two groups and they made their own stoves.

BUDAKA WORKSHOP

On 24th to 26th March two JEEP people went to Budaka at attend the training on the new energy saving stove called concrete cooking stove – with chimney.  13 people from Joint Energy and Enviroment Projects (JEEP), Safe Neighbourhood Foundation (SNF) from Budaka, Bududa district, Bufumbo District, buginyanya, Kapchorwa and Burundi. Each group was represented by two people apart from Burundi which was represented by one person. The participants were given materials to go and construct the stoves for the sale.
