Cold Storage and Lighting Project Monitoring visits in Kalangala district (Ssese islands)

Joint Energy and Environment Projects (JEEP), between August 2017 to February 2018, set up 6 JEEP Green Power Units in Bubeke and Kyamuswa sub-counties, Kalangala District. The Units were set up at 6 landing sites with funding from United States Africa Development Foundation (USADF) under the project name, Solar Cold Storage and Lighting Project. JEEP works with 6 women groups to run the units. JEEP pre-commissioned the Green Power Units on 20th and 21st February 2018.

KAL project Stakeholders meeting at JEEP Folkecenter

On 15th February 2017, the KAL project stakeholders meeting was held at the JEEP Folkecenter where all the nine project districts of Arua, Amuria, Apac, Kalangala, Kamuli, Tororo, Mukono, Kasese and Mpigi were duly represented. Other stakeholders came from Government ministries, institutions ir universities, the civil society Organisations (CSOs), Government Agencies ( NEMA, NAADS, NFA, & UIA), Media, and JEEP members. The Chief Guest Mr. Soren H. Larsen the First Secretary at the Embassy of Denmark in Uganda was the Chief Guest who launched the report on findings and recommendations on Renewable Energy and Climate Change mitigation aims at increasing the level of sustainable rural communities through implementation of environmental conservation practices e.

Annual General Meeting 2015

Joint Energy and Environment Projects (JEEP) organized the Annual General Meeting for Board of Directors, JEEP staff and JEEP members from the districts of Amuria, Mukono, Luweero, Arua, Tororo, Mpigi, Wakiso, Kampala, the meeting took place on the 14th of November 2015 at the JEEP offices at Kyanja along Gayaza Road. The issues which were discussed in the meeting included Reading previous AGM minutes, Reports on JEEP projects, JEEP members reported the impacts of JEEP projects in their areas, jJEEP gave reports on activities carried out, the income and expenditure of the funds, Reactions to reports, Ratification of Board and constitution and Way forward

Buganda Kingdom Sub County Leaders visits JEEP Folkecenter.

The leaders from Nakawa Sub County in Kampala district visited JEEP Folkecenter to see what JEEP was doing. The team led by sub county chief Haji Ahmed Matovu after touring the centre, expressed their happiness to see an NGO that has done great work in Uganda since 1983. They thanked the founder members, the board and the staff for managing the NGO for such a long period and educating Buganda and Uganda at large.

JEEP 10th Anniversary at Folkecenter.

On 14th November 2015 JEEP celebrated their 10th Anniversary at their home JEEP folkecenter in Kyanja. The celebration began with marching by the participants around Kyanja trading center. JEEP exhibited different types of renewable energy at the center where by many people from different district were so excited to see these technologies how they work. All JEEP members from various districts, schools and other invited guests celebrated together with JEEP staff.

JEEP exhibited Renewable Energy technologies at The Non Communicable Diseases Alliance (NCD) awareness function in Kireka

On Saturday the 10th of October 2015, JEEP was invited to take part in the exhibition of Uganda NCD Alliance: Kick off Campaign on the key risk factors of NCDs that took place at Kirema -Kireka Rehabilitation Center Ground. JEEP exhibited the energy saving technologies to people. People were told the benefits of using solar in substitutes on kerosene lamps. Some of the participating foundations were the Uganda Diabetes Association (UDA), Uganda Heart Research Foundation (UHRF), Uganda Cancer Society (UCS) and Joint Energy and Environment Projects (JEEP)
