The CEO - Ruth N. Kiwanuka and JEEP team welcomed our partners to the folkecenter - Poul Krøijer from Senior without Borders & Kirsten Arup from Merkur Bank. Poul and Kirsten applauded the team spirit of the team. They appreciated the projects that JEEP is carrying out in the grassroots communities and they recommended that the organization extends her wings to reach more communities. Ruth elaborated about the progress of JEEP activities, projects and success stories captured from the grassroots communities.
Through KAL Project - Knowledge, Advocacy and Lobbying for the Benefits of Renewable Energy and Mitigating Climate Change, the organization procured a Toyota Land Cruiser Hardtop Station Wagon 4WD, on the 31 January 2014, to facilitate JEEP projects in distant communities with challenging terrains. In October 2013, JEEP team (Rachael and Grace) participated in Capacity Building in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency workshop organized by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development in partnership with Energy and Environment Partnership. EEP supports projects that aim to provide sustainable energy services to the poor while combating climate change. The EEP program which promotes renewable energy, energy efficiency and clean technology investments in Southern and East Africa is funded jointly by the government of Finland, Austria and UK’s Department for International Development (DFID).
Joint Energy and Environment Project (JEEP) in partnership with Food Agricultural organization (FAO) have laid down a plan to train Karimojong people who live in the North Eastern region of Uganda how to make energy saving stoves, tree planting and making live fences for their traditional houses locally referred to as ‘Manyatta’ Prior to the plan, JEEP staff (Ruth and Kevine) went on a familiarization tour to Karamoja with FAO staff in September 29th – 1st October, 2013.
