Solar installations in Arua

JEEP has finalising installation in another 5 school with support from the Nordic Folkecenter for renewable energy. The 5 beneficiary schools were all selected from Arua district. The 4 selected schools were off grid except one (Okollo SS). Okollo SS was getting power from the grid ( Thermol generator) but was un reliable as a result of load shedding in Arua /power rationing.

Special consideration was given to Ajia girls secondary school, the school was opened in 2011 as an initiative to encourage girls in that area to go to school since most of the girls were not attending school.

Sustainability and security of the system were key issues considered in the selection of the beneficiaries.
